Canon EOS Rebel T5 Digital SLR reviews
Good, lightweight design; Great value for money; Performance at higher ISO settings; EOS companion app
Lacking Wi-fi as standard; Could benefit from more AF points
On the whole the camera is great. If you are new to DSLRs, you should get this package. I understand that there are other higher end models such as the 7D Mark II, 6D, and 5D Mark III, but unless you are a professional photographer, it can be difficult to justify the extra cost just to have the most expensive camera. First learning how to control shutter speed, aperture, ISO, evaluative metering, lighting, file size types for prints, and white balance all goes a long way towards one’s education on digital photography. The 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses were good addition to the package. Keep in mind, that although these lenses will more than likely blow out the quality of your cell phone and tablet cameras, these lenses are basic models and still fail in comparison to the “Red Ring” lenses.
The EOS Rebel T5 is compatible with all Canon lenses in the EF and EF-S lineup, ranging from ultra-wide angle to super telephoto lenses. Canon lenses employ advanced optical expertise and micron-precision engineering to deliver unprecedented performance in all facets of the photographic process. Numerous lenses feature Canon’s sophisticated Optical Image Stabilizer technology to minimize the effect of camera shake. Through Canon lenses, photographers can truly maximize the quality and liberating performance of the EOS Rebel T5.
To me the Canon EOS Rebel line of DSLR cameras are the best for those wanting to get into more advanced photography. The main reasons are they allow you full manual controls and the interchangeable lenses. These allow you to change so much of how the cameras functions in different lighting situations. And over the last five years Canon digital SLR cameras have become very capable of 1080p high definition video cameras also. Over the course of this review I get a mention some basics about digital photography that can help you if you’re a first-time camera buyer.
Buying a video camera can be a huge investment. I personally didn’t want to just go to my local store and buy just any / or the latest model out there just because it was on sale that week… there is a huge variety of cameras (most people can use their phone) but if you need to take video for an extended period time, you should now what you’re getting. There were many things to consider before purchasing; what was I using it for, what features I need, what format (HD or standard) and what recording medium.
